Twas the night after Christmas, and all through our home
Not a decoration was showing, not an elf or new gnome,
The stockings that hung by the chimney with care,
are sealed in the box, we’re back to everyday fare.
The kittys are angry, we took down their tree,
No more glitter, no ribbons, no more shopping for me.
You should see my new greenhouse, Rooster has a new cap,
we drank too much and ate too much, it’s high time for a nap.
Out on the lawn are new solar light stakes,
I can’t wait to see how much light my Dino Pet makes!
He has new hunting clothes, he won’t be seen in the brush.
There are bottles of poo pourri, it’s a less smelly flush.
The moon shines so brightly, tho there isn’t any snow
Pacific Northwest Christmas, snow will almost never show.
But it wouldn’t be Christmas, if Santa didn’t appear,
I know him! I’m happy we saw him this year.
My Grandpa will tell you, that he might be a spic (hard worker).
You know the guy I speak of, he’s good old St Nick.
So fast through the kitchen, at the hall there he came,
I whistled, and kissed him, cousin Joe was his name!
Today LB and Peep, they reclaimed the couch,
and Destiny came for presents, she likes her new pouch.
The Recycling is full, I have air plants for sale,
Back to work, back to work, except for you Dale.
We had enough Christmas, and it sure was fun,
It was a pleasure to give gifts, and hug everyone.
December was hectic, it never goes slow.
Now it’s time to hit the gym, make smoothies, lay low.
There will still be some sparkles, and surely some fun,
But it’s time to get serious when New Years is done.
As I look at the photos, of this almost past year,
I am thankful for our people, more than any new gear.
I’m thankful for you and I’m thankful to be free.
I’m thankful for bikers and jeepers and He.
You know it’s not about stuff, and it’s not about money,
It’s about love and about family, and people you call honey.
I know your eyes twinkled! You might have seen Mary!
Your cheeks were like roses, your nose like a cherry!
(if you drank as much as we did, someone have an intervention!)
Hopefully you found time, to give to some who have less.
Or to help someone, who needed you to alleviate some stress.
You really are something to have gotten this far,
I wish I could reward you with a shiny new car.
But alas, that’s not the point of this cute little poem,
It’s inspirational, it’s fanciful, it’s subliminal, you’ll show ’em!
I just want to wish you a happy new year.
I hope you’re bold, I wish you truth, and that you face every fear!
And with wink of my eye and a twist of my head,
I hope you remember, that there’s nothing to dread.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to All of my blog readers, I love you and I am thankful for you. Thank you for showing me that what I am writing is appreciated and worth reading. It really means a lot to me. Serious. 🙂
